Today, GPS is well known technology used by Malaysian here. Most of the latest mobile phone already have GPS build in or you may refer to http://www.malsingmaps.com. Here are the steps to prepare automated NFS failover.

Server setup details:

2. Type mount and you should see /data mounted on NFS.
10.10.10.10:/data on /data type nfs (rw,addr=10.10.10.10)
3. Power Off ServerNFS01 immediately.
4. Linux HA will take over by ServerNFS02.
3. Type ifconfig on ServerNFS02 and you should able to see virtual IP address - 10.10.10.10(please wait for a while to see it running).
4. Type /etc/init.d/nfsserver status and you should see NFS server running on node2.
5. Go back to NFSclient01, type ls -l /data or mount and you should see as usual which is mounted on virtual IP address 10.10.10.10 on ServerNFS02.

Congratulations! You’re done!

In order to do some folder maintenance job, you may require to find an empty folder on Linux box. I would like to share tips here:

# find /path -type d -empty

Find empty folder and list
# find /path -type d -empty -exec ls -ld {} \;

Find empty folder and save as temporary file
# find /path -type d -empty -exec ls -ld >> /tmp/savefiles.txt {} \;

Find empty folder and delete
# find /path -type d -empty -exec rm -rf {} \;

Samba comes with different types of permissions for share and for some reason you may require creating new files and directory with full right permission 777.

The example show as below will guide you how to configure Samba share drive with 777 full right permission for any new files or folders created in /data/shared(example)?

directory mask = 777

In this case, the most important Samba setting are:

create mask = when a new file created, the necessary UNIX mode permissions are created and the default create mask = 0744

force create mode = specifies a set of UNIX mode bit permissions that will always be set on a file created by Samba.

directory mask = when a new directory created, the necessary UNIX mode permissions are created and the default create mask = 0755

Additional setting:

valid users = a list of users that should be allowed to login to this service.

max connections = number of simultaneous connections to a service to be limited

veto files = a list of files and directories that are neither visible nor accessible

writeable = this parameter is a synonym for writeable

Enjoy 777 permission for any new file or directory create in /data/shared folder!

1. Checking /var/log/messages file
Basically SSH hints are written to “/var/log/messages” file, you should be able to see any error messages here. For an example “Authentication refused: bad ownership or
modes for directory /root cannot set to 775“. Perhaps you’re require to change /root folder permission to make it work (may apply to other /home folder as well).
Type #chmod 755 /root or #chmod 700 /root can solve authentication problem.

2. Permissions
Please make sure you have correct file and folder permission as suggested below.

.ssh folder permission 700 (rwx——)
authorized_keys 600 (rw——-)
id_rsa 600 (rw——-)

Remember if you’re using Meebo, Facebook, Friendster, Myspace or any other community site that require enter your email address and password, I think your password is
disclose. Said for an example Meebo, you can have single account register on Meebo that keep multiple IM account. I’m sure you already save your password in the database(no matter plain text or not, your password is disclosed). If you enter Gmail, Yahoo or MSN email address and password in Facebook looking for your friends in the contact list who use the same services, I think your password is disclose too. Perhap they claimed they won’t keep your password.

How about those ‘policy’ that protected privacy? What are they try to do with your email data. Sorry I don’t know.

So? I would advice anyone please do not store any important data on your email. Please do change your password frequently if possible. Email is NOT secure. Web is NOT secure? Good luck!
