Flock Problem Solved
Posted by Planet Malaysia on June 18, 2006
I’m just finish download and successfull installed [tag]Flock[/tag] browser, aka Flock 0.7 on my Ubuntu 5.10.
Flock is a free web browser that makes it easier than ever to share photos, stay up-to-date with news from your favorite sites, and search the Web.
Initially I have problem to start my Flock with the error message:
user1@planetmy:~/download/./flock &
[1] 11399
user1@planetmy:~/download/flock$ ./run-mozilla.sh: line 131: 11407 Segmentation fault “$prog” ${1+”$@”}
WTH? I need a help! Who else? Our lonely friend – Google
The problem is caused by [tag]SCIM[/tag] on Ubuntu Breezy Badger 5.10, It’s broken since [tag]Ubuntu[/tag] switched from gcc3 to gcc4. Other applications like Acrobat Reader also crash because of SCIM.
There are two solutions:
1) Deactivate SCIM only while launching Flock: “GTK_IM_MODULE=xim ./flock”. Of course you won’t have CJK input in Flock.
2) Stop using SCIM (switch to UIM)
Do the (1) first to get sure the problem comes from SCIM.
Yeah! Exactly, my problem is because of SCIM. Enjoy using Flock even it’s beta version.
Download Flock or take Flock Tour.

Ahh, Ubuntu 5.10
Have you been able to try out the new Ubuntu 6.06? You can upgrade to 6.06 from 5.10 with no CD’s.
If you have any questions email me.
