Google, Welcome to Malaysia!
Posted on January 31, 2008
As we know Google is considering building a largest off shore data center outside of US and probably Asia. In fact, many Asia country are trying hard to bring Google to their country such as: Taiwan, South Korea, Japan, Vietnam, Malaysia, India and etc.
According to Slashdot, Malaysian prime minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi met with Google CEO Eric Schmidt at the Davos conference in Switzerland Friday. Afterward he told Malaysian media that Google is "interested" in a data center in Malaysia. "They want to make their presence felt in Malaysia," Badawi said. "I was told that Malaysians formed the highest group of Google users in South-East Asia. The report said it "is believed the world’s top Internet search engine company was eyeing Malaysia, India or Vietnam to set up its data centre facilities."
Again, as a Malaysian I definitely welcome Google to Malaysia especially Cyberjaya! In Cyberjaya, we have fews MNC included HP, Dell, IBM, Motorola, DHL, Shell, Fujitsu, HSBC, NTT and etc. I believed MDEC or Malaysia government will have an attractive plan for Google. Free Tax, free electrical supply, free water supply , free facilities, building or land, and what else you need?
Please feel free to leave a comment here if you support us to welcome Google to Malaysia!

Gee you lot are a bunch of tossers… all hail the dickhead malaysian president!
wow..that is good news…so hanson toh is the boss here in Malaysia?
If Google had localized hosting for Malaysians, I’ll be one of the first to hop onto them. Simple reason, Google datacenters have to be nothing but stable.
Hanson Toh no lonely anymore.
welcome google in malsysia ,the most awesome team
Google, Malaysia is the best choice for you.
Welcome Google to Malaysia!
[...] As a Malaysian, I’m seriously Welcome Google to Malaysia. [...]
The most waited org. to Malaysia…. seeking for vacancy from Google Malaysia!!!
google in malaysia. just another customer service.
Customer Service?
[...] why? Is it because of the suggested data centre that is to be built in Cyberjaya (read here, here, here)? Nobody knows. I have doubt as well. Remember the “Elizabeth Wong’s nude photos” [...]
With a strange entity like MCMC acting as Online Enforcers(to certain coalition) and a telco provider that gives out identities of their customers to be persecuted(the Perak Monarch website commentators being charged), I doubt Google will enjoy their presence here.
Plus, everyone knows the policies here changes overnight depending on the wimps of those in power.
Malaysian are all the same..loves to complain.. complain and complain. How you would know that google will not be happy here? Infineon is in Hi Tech Kulim, why not google in cyberjaya? I believe Infineon is happy here because the facilities given by the gov. It is not about the online enforcers or what so ever telco problems, it is about the electrical power that TNB can provide to google. Do you know one important thing a data center needs is the power source. It requires a lot of power source to support data centre’s. If TNB and the gov can come out of something (like the ones offerred to infineon), i truly believe that google will be happy here. It is NOT about the online enforcers or what so ever shit that you may think about. If you are not happy to be malaysian, feel free to migrate coz I’ve had enough with ppl that loves to complain. Good bye.
