Two year back I have posted an article “How To Find VMware Workstation Serial Number In Windows” which is focus on VMware Workstation version 6. Today, I just would like share another tips about “How To Find VMware Workstation 7.x Serial Key In Microsoft Windows 7″.

Please follow step by step as below:
1. Click on Windows Button.
2. Type “regedit” and press Enter.
3. The Windows Registry windows popup, browse to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\VMware, Inc.\VMware Workstation\License.ws.7.0.e1.xxxxxx\
4. Please look at right hand column and refer to ‘Serial’ Name. The VMware Workstation 7 serial key just on the right hand site under data column.

VMware just posted about VMware Workstation 6.5 Beta, Build 84113 open for public download. Running FreeNAS on Vmware ESX and VMware Workstation

My previous test about running OpenFiler as iSCSI target for VMware ESX on my desktop working well. As part of my on going testing with VMware ESX Server, I tested running FreeNAS version 0.686 on my VMware ESX version 3.01 and VMware Workstation 6.

FreeNAS is a free NAS (Network-Attached Storage) server, supporting: CIFS (samba), FTP, NFS, AFP, RSYNC, iSCSI protocols, S.M.A.R.T., local user authentication, Software RAID (0,1,5) with a Full WEB configuration interface. FreeNAS takes less than 32MB once installed on Compact Flash, hard drive or USB key.

Basically the following guide is pretty straight forward if you already know VMwara ESX or VMware Workstation.

How To Find VMware Workstation Serial Number In Windows

The following tips will guide you "How to find VMware Workstation serial number in Windows".

As usual, I think I can see the VMware Workstation serial number under HELP -> About VMware Workstation. This is wrong! The Workstation serial number can be found in the Windows registry.

Click the Windows Start button and select the Run command.
Enter regedit to open the Windows registry editor.
Find the Workstation serial number in My Computer > HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > VMware, Inc. > VMware Workstation.

Running VMware ESX 3.5 in VMware Workstation 6

VMware ESX 3.5 was released some times ago.

Yesterday I have a time download a latest VMware ESX 3.5 and I have installed VMware ESX 3.5 in Workstation 6.

As usual, I believe this shouldn't be any problem for me. The installation go smooth but when I want to start the VMware ESX 3.5, it took me more than half day to get it up. Again, I'm still having a problem with login, networking problem, and etc as you can see from as image attached.
